Tide Pod challenge was a social media phenomenon where one would consume colorful detergent pods and later spit them out for bragging rights.

Tide Pods contain ethanol, hydrogen peroxide and long-chain polymers, that can burn through a person’s digestive system.

YouTube has started shutting down such videos after it was flagged by users.

It has been announced that the channels which hosts such dangerous activities against YouTube’s community guidelines have risk of being shut down.

According to American Association of Poison Control and Centers, there have been 39 cases of teengers misusing laundry pods, in the first 15 days of January 2018.

They also posted a tweet against consuming laundry pods on January 13, 2018.

The creators of Tide, Procter & Gamble also issued a warning against misuse of Tide Pods on their Twitter account.

More than 62,000 children under the age of 6 were exposed to dishwasher and laundry detergent within 2013 to 2014.

The dangers that the detergent possess to little children is so high, that researchers recommend the parents of children under 6 to not buy it at all.

Unlike its predecessors, cinnamon challenge and bath-salt challenge, this one represent a dangerous health threat.
