Who is Katlynn Simone? Empire Season 5 New Cast!

Since the premiere of the new season of Empire on September 26, 2018, viewers couldn’t stop themselves talking about the new girl, Treasure. Katlynn Simone plays Treasure, and to be honest, she looks good and sings like a million-dollar dreamEmpire is a musical drama which revolves around the former drug dealer, hip-hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment, Lucious Lyon. In season 5, Treasure will be the central character, appearing as a prison social worker, who gets discovered by Cookie after seeing her star potential. 

Who is Katlynn Simone?

Born on October 30, 1995, Katlynn got inclined towards music at the young age as she grew up listening to her grandmother’s music collection. She joined the vocal classes at the age of 11 and began taking part in music competitions, where she used to perform jazz and blues songs. She enrolled at Houston’s High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, majoring in musical theater and auditioned for The Ensemble Theater in Houston in 2009.

Later in 2009, she landed a dramatic role in a short film, Tryst of Fate, made by Tisch School of Arts at New York University. She played a recurring role on BET’s The Game from 2011 to 2015 appearing in 17 episodes. Her single, Beautiful Lie, from the series earned her wide acclaim. She also made a guest appearance in The First Family in 2013. While working on TV shows, she also worked with producers focusing on her music career.

The 22-year-old has released some critically acclaimed singles, including Overboard. More recently, she appeared on TV shows like The Quad, Dr. Ken and Ray Donovan. Currently, she has been the talk of the town since making a groundbreaking appearance in the 5th season premiere of Empire. Moreover, she is also set to direct, co-produce and perform in a new show, Starving Artist, which is expected to air in 2019.
