Terry Fator is an American ventriloquist, comedian, impressionist and singer. He celebrates his birthday every year on 10th June, and was born in the year 1965. His full name is Terry Wayne Fator and is popularly known by his professional name Terry Fator. He shot to fame as he became winner of second season of the talent reality show America’s Got Talent. The next year, he got signed by The Mirage Hotel as the headliner. Fator won people’s heart by doing more than 100 ventriloquial impersonations and using up to 16 different puppets in his act.
He is a native of Dallas, Texas, United States. He was born as the middle child to Edith Marie Fator and Jephtha Wesley. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He discovered about ventriloquism during his fifth grade. He read books about it and received his first ventriloquism at the young age of 10. He entertained his friends and family with his impersonation ability and ventriloquism throughout his childhood.
Before he started his ventriloquism career professionally, he was the lead singer of a band called Freedom Jam and went on tours with them in 1987 and 1988. At the age of 23, he became the lead singer of another locally popular band, Texas the Band, and incorporated his puppet Walter T. Airedale into his shows. They did not sign to a major label because he could not sing in his own voice and did not want to give up impersonation. He went solo and started combining ventriloquism and comedy. He was not much successful and was about to give up his career, when his family persuaded him to audition for America’s Got Talent. He followed their advice and appeared on America’s Got Talent for the first time on 19 June 2007. He was an instant hit and the judges loved his performance, so did the people. He won the second season of America’s Got Talent. That entirely changed the course of his career. He signed a $1.5 million contract with Las Vegas Hilton to do three shows per month. He signed another $100 million contract with The Mirage in Las Vegas to perform nightly. He has also done guest performances on the stage of America’s Got Talent several times. He is also involved in several charity works. He released his first DVD titled Terry Fator: Live from Las Vegas on 1 September 2009.
He met his soon to be wife, Melinda on 1989. She was a follower of the band TEXAS, where he was the lead singer. They dated for a few years before tying the knot on 8 January, 1991. They had bought a house in Trophy Club, Texas, which was referred as their dream house. Unfortunately for Terry, Melinda left him and moved back to Los Angeles in January 2009. The next month, she filed for divorce in Texas. She filed for divorce a second time in Nevada, after a year and a half. Their divorce was finalized on November 3, 2010 and the very next day, Fator married Taylor Makakoa. She is his on stage assistant.
Although he had to struggle at the beginning of his career, Terry is now recognized as a successful ventriloquist. He has earned an estimated net worth of $100 million through his hard work over the years. He has not revealed his salary yet but no points for guessing that he gets a lucrative salary for his sold-out shows.
