Currently aged 43, the famous American actor, singer was born on September 11, 1970 in Washington D.C. Taraji Penda Henson is famous for role in Baby Boy as Yvette (2001), Hustle and Flow as Shug (2005) and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as Queenie (2008). She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2009 for playing the role of Queenie. Then she started in the CBS drama Person of Interest form 2011-2013.
Born on southeast Washington, D.C. the actress has named her name in Swahili origin, “Taraji” meaning hope and “Penda” meaning love. She went Maryland spend her summer at grandparents’ house and then attended Oxen Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland. She first attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and she took Electrical Engineering as her major faculty, and later transferred to Howard University. She didn’t have enough money to pay for Howard University as she used to work at The Pentagon as a secretary in the morning and waitress on The Odyssey Cruise Line in the night. And then finished her education after graduation with a degree in Theater Arts and has also won Triple Threat Award.
She started her filmy career from Four Brother in 2005. Then appeared in many other films Talk To Me in 2007, The Family That Preys in 2008 and Hurricane Season in 2009. In late 2008, she starred Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She has also played the mother role of Benjamin as Queenie, in a performance which has garnered critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
