Tara Lipinski, the 1998 Olympic champion had suddenly announced her withdrawal from the 1998 World Figure Skating Championship.

She was highly criticized by many people, including Christine Brennan, a sports columnist, for her decision to take retirement so early.

Her agent at the time said that she couldn’t go to the championship because she couldn’t give it her best due a torn muscle.

But, she later revealed that she had to undergo surgery to remove two molars because of a grave glandular infection.

Tara is currently sitting in the broadcast booth and commenting on The Winter Olympics which are being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

At the age of 14, she won the World Figure Skating Championship, making her the youngest woman ever to win that.

She has also won the 1997 World Figure Skating Championship, 1997 U.S National Figure Skating Championship and two Grand Prix Figure Skating Final.

As of 2018, Tara has garnered a net worth of approximately $4 million.
