Actual Reason Why There Won't Be Maniac Season 2!

By MyHowBook Team ⚈ Published On:

Maniac premiered on September 21, 2018, and we cannot hear anything, but good stuff about the show. The Netflix’s series follows two strangers, Annie Landsberg (Emma Stone) & Owen Milgrim (Jonah Hill), who connect during a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial.

What there will be no Maniac Season 2?

The 10-episode season received not only praise from viewers for its direction, visuals and acting but also positive reviews from critics. Being loved by viewers and Hollywood A-listers, it doesn’t come as a surprise that viewers are expecting more seasons of the creative show. Despite all that, the showrunner Patrick Somerville has otherwise to say.

Crashing fans’ hope for new episodes, he shared that there was never a possibility of another season. During an interview, Patrick shared,

No. This was always planned as a limited series, and I think that’s another reason why we had the freedom to have a more hopeful ending. A lot of times on TV, you have to throw your characters into distress again near the end to buy the next season, and we don’t have to do that.

As Maniac is a limited series, you will get a hopeful end that you expect of any series that you love. Based on the 2014 Norwegian series of the same name, the show has a happy ending along with the hint that this isn’t the end of the road for Annie and Owen.

While viewers are unaware of whether or not the duo’s lives get better in the future, Patrick has confirmed that they’re free to imagine their desired ending. In the meantime, it would be pretty hard to get Jonah and Emma for another season even if Netflix was pushing for it because of their busy schedules.
