Prince William, by birth William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor, born on 21st June 1981, comes second in the line of succession to the British throne after his father Charles. William’s paternal grandparent are Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His mother was late Princess Diana who was destined to die soon. He lived his early life in London, in Kensington Palace, a place where his entire childhood was spent. Being born to royal family he had everything he wanted but however he didn’t experience much freedom as other ordinary children. Wherever he went, he was escorted by bodyguards and followed by photographer and certainly such phenomena is beyond normal circumstances.
Previously the royal family members were instructed at home but William became the first prince to break the royal code of conduct. Prince William was enrolled in Eton college for receiving his secondary level education from where in 2000 he came out as a graduate passing three A-level exams. Prince William always had a dream to have a profound experience. He never wanted to confine himself in a limited periphery so immediately on the completion of his graduation, he started to travel for educational projects. During this period he also participated in the British Army training exercise in Belize, furthermore he worked in Dairy Farm and had a brief residence as a guest in Africa. It was definitely a learning experience for a prince. After travelling for almost one year, finally he joined the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he chose to study History of Art. Later on, the prince changed his major subject to Geography and in 2005 he earned his master of Arts degree. It is reported that Prince William became the first successor to the British throne to have such highest academic achievement. The following year, Prince decided to embark on his military career. In January 2006, he joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He successfully accomplished the course, graduating from Sandhurst on 15 December 2006. William took a charge of armed force in a successful manner and actively served in British forces. In October 2007 it was made known to the authorities that Major Alexis Roberts, William’s former Platoon Commander, was killed in Afghanistan while he was on active duty. This was a terribly shocking news which saddened the Prince extremely.
Although being born as a prince he never wanted to live his life in a luxury. He has given his valuable time to many important social functions, performed many voluntary work, expended his money in charity work. Despite of possessing vast amounts of assets, he never gets involved in something that is an indulgence rather than a necessity. It is reported that the Duke of Cambridge possesses a net worth of approximately $ 40 million.
Talking about his private life, media always have a prolonged intense look upon his personal affair. In 2005, It was his affair with his long term girlfriend Kate Middleton which became the subject of tabloid speculation. Formally William has started dating his present wife Kate Middleton since about 2003. In an early stage though there were some flaws in their relationship but finally on April 29, 2011, the wedding took place in Westminster Abbey, London. The couple had their first child on July 22, 2013. At the moment the Prince William is running at the age of 31.
