Pedro Almodovar Biography
Pedro Almodovar Caballero is an renowned Spanish actor, film director, screenwriter and also a producer. He was born on the 25th of September in the year of 1949. He is considered as one of the successful filmmaker in the film industry. He was born in Calzada de Calatrava, Spain. It is a small town of Ciudad Real. He was sent to the boarding school by his parents when he was eight years of old. His parents hoped him to be a priest and sent him to the school. And in the year of 1967 he moved to Madrid. His parents were against his will but he completed his wish. He went to Madrid to pursue his career as a film director. He could not do all by himself as he was economically fragile. So he had to do numerous jobs. Then later he got to work for Telefonica, a national phone company and worked for twelve years.
Then during the time of seventies he got to feature with vanguard theatrical group, Los Goliardos. He did his first act over there and got to meet Carmen Maura. Then eventually he started writing different comics and started to give his stories and other articles to different magazines including Vibora, Star and Vibraciones. He was considered a great figure then. He then continuously wrote for El sueno de la razon and his articles were published too. He started off his movie career by the year of 1974 but before he bought a Super 8 camera from his first salary from Telefonica. He started to make short movies and by that time he was just 22 years of old. His short movies were shown in Madrid and Barcelona.
Almodovar is one of the director who is openly gay and has got different appeals from around the world. Then in the year of 2013 he got to be honored with the 26th European Film Awards. His first feature movie was Pepi, Luci, Bom and it was released in the year 1980 and was a low budget movie. The movie was done with shooting in the weekends. The movie is about three characters of the movie Pepi, Luci and Bom. His next work was Labyrinth of Passions which was released in 1982. The movie is about multiole identities and falls in the comedic genre. This was the statement made by Almodovar for Labyrinth of Passions: "I like the film even if it could have been better made. The main problem is that the story of the two leads is much less interesting than the stories of all the secondary characters. But precisely because there are so many secondary characters, there's a lot in the film I like."
In the year 1991 he made another drama movie High Heels which is created about the split relationship between a self-involved mother, a famous torch song singer and her daughter whom she abandoned during her childhood and works as a newscaster. The movie was credited with good reviews and comments. Then in the year of 1993 his another movie was Kika where the story plot has got various genres. Then some years later in 1995 he created another movie and titled The Flower of My Secret. The movie was compared to his other movies All About My Mother and Talk to Her. Although the movie did not get the good response from the audiences and the viewers he had different way of presenting the movie. The Movie All About My Mother was released in the year 1999. His some of the recent works can be found in the year after 2005 where he worked for Broken Embraces in 2009. The Skin I Live In 2011 and I’m So Excited in the year 2013.
