Matt Craven nicknamed as Matthew John Crnkovich is a Canadian film actor. By the present time, his major film credits includes, Meatballs, Happy Birthday to Me, Tin Men, Blue Steel, Jacob's Ladder, K2, A Few Good Men, Indian Summer, Crimson Tide, The Juror, Paulie, Dragonfly, The Life of David Gale, Timeline, The Clearing, Assault on Precinct 13, Deja Vu and Disturbia. Apart from his big screen movies of all time, his television credits have also a quite remarkable list which includes American Gothic, L.A. Matt Craven was born on November 10, 1956 in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. He belongs to Canadian descent. He was born as Matthew John Crnkovich to Nick Crnkovich and his wife Joanne. As for his family members, he has an older sister, Deborah. He lost his father when he was only six weeks older. Ever since then he has been very close to his mother and sister. He spent his childhood at his mother’s hometown St. Catharines, Ontario. Her mother used to work as a hairdresser. Matt was an excellent student in his studies and additional to it, he was also a great hockey player at his school. At his school, he was the starting running back on the football team and was achieving better-than-average grades. After his mothers’s job getting flatter, he decided to help his mother. . Later he along with his mother and sister moved to Thorold for a few years and there he was known as Matthew Embleton among his friends. He left his school to join fireman and oiler on ships sailing the great lakes. Once he left his studies, he never looked at it again in his life. After driving truck for a plumbing company and working maintenance for an electrical company, Matt's mom's business was back on its feet and Matt headed west to Edmonton, Alberta. He worked for the next two years as a lineman for the Canadian National Railway as a member of a troubleshooting crew fixing telecommunication lines across three provinces.
Talking about his career startup, in 1975 Matt along with his friends headed to Europe with all of their savings. But three months late he was completely broke and which made him to return from Europe. Things became worse for him. He was in complete depression for quite some time. Then suddenly he came across an ad in the local newpaper, announcing auditions being held on the next day for upcoming local production of Dracula. He called at that place and collected all useful information about it. On next day he decided to go there and see what magic it could do to his life. although he has never auditioned before, but still he had a thought that it could be his job of life. Successfully he got the part of Jonathan Harker in Niagara Falls Music Theatre's production of Dracula. He moved to Toronto after the production closed to pursue the art of acting. His first job as an actor was a supporting role in the movie Meatballs (1979) and was followed up by starring in the short film Bravery in the Field (1979), which was nominated for an Academy Award.
Till the end he has acted in more than 10 movies, which has been liked by huge mass of people from all around the world. Beside that he also has praising contribution to in television. Apart from his notified films, he had a recurring role on NCIS as a Secretary of the Navy Clayton Jarvis with the role of ending in September 2013. It was when Craven had left the show for his own good after Jarvis was killed off during the Season 11 premiere episode, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. He had worked with NCIS actor Rocky Carroll before in the military thriller feature film Crimson Tide. At present he has got a lead role in the ABC fantasy- drama Resurrection which was supposed to be premiered in 2014.
Turning back to his personal life, he has been married to Sally Craven and they have two children, Nichola and Josephine.
