A notable political pundit and media personality, Margaret Hoover is an American Republican strategist, political commentator, gay rights activist, feminist, and author.

Margaret Hoover was born on 11th December 1977, in Colorado, U.S.

She is the granddaughter of former US president Herbert Hoover; politics runs in her genes we assume.

Margaret received her primary school education from Graland Country Day School. 

She received her further degrees from Bryn Mawr College acquiring a Bachelor of Arts certificate in Spanish Literature.

Hoover started her career as the Associate Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the administration of former US President George W. Bush in the White House.

She served as a Deputy Finance Director in the 2006-2007 presidential bid to Rudy Giuliani.

Margaret has also worked at the Department of Homeland Security as the Advisor to the Deputy Secretary.

She is serving on the boards of Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association and Board of Overseers at the Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, the Belgian-American Education Foundation.

She is also serving in the advisory council of GOProud and The American Foundation for Equal Rights. 

Margaret Hoover has established the non-profit organization called American Unity Fund, in support of the freedom of gays and lesbians.

Being an active advocate of gay rights, she serves as the president of American Unity Pac which chooses pro-LGBT Republican members of Congress and American Unity Fund. 

From 2008 to 2012, she worked as a news contributor for the show, ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ on Fox News.

She has appeared on other popular shows like NBC’s ‘Today Show,’ ABC’s ‘Good Morning America,’ CBS’s ‘Early Show,’ etc.

Her articles have been published in the Wall Street Journal, CNN.com, FoxNews.com, the New York Daily, the Daily Beast, and many others.

In 2010, Hoover was featured in the PBS’s documentary of her great-grandfather called ‘Landslide.’ 

Since 2012, the prominent media personality has been working as a political contributor for CNN.

Hoover is the author of the best selling book, American Individualism: How A New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party.

Margaret Hoover is married to The Daily Beast’s editorial chief and CNN’s political analyst, John Phillips Avlon.

Their wedding ceremony was held at Stanford Memorial Church in Palo Alto, California, in November 2009.  

Margaret and John are parents of two children, son Jack and daughter Toula Lou.
