Lupita Nyong’o, a Kenyan-Mexican actress, is best known for her Academy Award-winning performance on 12 Years a Slave. She was born to Kenyan parents, Dorothy Ogada Buyu and Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, in Mexico City, Mexico. At the age of 19, she shaved off her hair, which later became her trademark short hair. One of the Hollywood’s hottest “it girls” got her first big acting break when she played Juliet in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at a Kenyan theater at the age of 14.
