At the young age of 21, Lucas Hedges already has one Oscar nomination under his belt for his performance in Manchester By the Sea as Patrick Chandler.

Oscar-winning Performance in Manchester by the Sea

Lucas was born on December 12, 1996, in New York City, to screenwriter and director Peter Hedges and poet and actress Susan Bruce. He is a graduate of Saint Ann’s School. He is recently on a break from studying theatre at the  University of North Carolina School of the Arts. A graduate of the Cherubs Theatre Program at Northwestern University’ National High School Institute, he got into acting at the tender age of 11.

He made his feature film debut in his father’s directional, Dan in Real Life in 2007, but his line was cut in post-production. After appearing in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom as Redford in 2012, he went to appear in several movies, including Arthur Newman, Labor Day and Anesthesia.

He got wide recognition after he portrayed the role of Casey Affleck ’s grieving nephew, Patrick Chandler in Oscar-nominated movie, Manchester by the Sea. For his remarkable work in the movie, he won his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In due course, he starred in two movies, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, both of which got nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture in 2017.

More recently, he has appeared in Jonah Hill’s Mid90s as a bullying older brother Ian. His movie, Boy Erased, in which he starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe, hit the theatres on November 2.

Upcoming Movies

He is set to appear as the titular character in his father’s directional, Ben Is Back, co-starring Julia Roberts. The movie will be released on December 7. He has also appeared in Broadway shows, Yen (2017) and The Waverly Gallery (2018). The 21-year-old already has numerous upcoming projects, including 2019 films, Honey Boy and Waves.

Along with the positive reviews that he has gained for his outstanding performances, he has been able to accumulate a net worth of approximately $3 million.
