Leonardo Dicaprio ~ Biography
Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio is an American actor and also a film producer. He was born on the 11th of November, 1974 in LA, California. It is said that he was named Leonardo as his mother felt first baby kick while she was looking at the Leonardo da Vinci painting in a museum in Italy. His parents got divorced when he was just a year old. After his parent’s divorce he used to live with his mother the most of the time. When he was in his childhood he used to attend Seeds Elementary School and later graduated from John Marshall High School. He then went to Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies for about four years. As he spent some of his childhood times with his maternal grandparents in Germany, he has good fluency in German.
DiCaprio started his career by making appearances in different short educational movies and some commercials. He also did some stage acts. He made his debut in the filming career by playing the role of the son of a landlord in a sci-fi horror movie Critters 3. He was individually picked by Robert De Niro to act in This Boy’s Life. He made the selection from about 400 other young artists. In the year he did a movie, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape for which he was nominated for the Academy Award as well as the Golden Globe Award. And in 1995 he did an effort for the movie The Quick and the Dead which was produced by Sam Raimi. He had an opposite cast of Sharon Stone.
He also appeared in the 1996 Baz Luhrmann’s movie Romeo+Juliet and played an opposite role to Claire Danes. The movie made about $147 million in the worldwide box office. He got chance to collaborate again with De Niro when he starred in Marvin’s Room, a family drama which was produced by Jerry Zak. DiCaprio then did James Cameron’s Titanic where he played the role of a twenty year old man, Jack Dawson. At the beginning he refused to represent the role of Jack but later Cameron convinced him by telling him to be the perfect act for the movie. The movie was the highest grossing movie ever made but later it was surpassed by Avatar. The next year, DiCaprio completed a self-mocking character part look in Woody Allen's sharp satire of the renown industry, Celebrity. The movie was released in 1998. That year, he also acted in the double roles of the wicked King Louis XIV and his secret, understanding twin brother Philippe in Randall Wallace's The Man in the Iron Mask, based on the same-titled 1939 film. Although there was some mixed comments for the movie it had been commercially successful in the Hollywood. In the year 2010 he starred in Christopher Nolan’s Inception which grossed over $825 million worldwide. His another movie was J. Edgar, portraying the role of the detective. In the year 2013 he did the role of Jay Gatsby with Baz Luhrmann which is an adaptation from the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby. The movie had the same name along with different actors like Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire. His latest movie, The Wolf of Wall Street was based on a true story of an American stockbroker. He later announced that he would be taking a long break from his acting.
He also had different relationship issues where in the beginning he dated model Kristen Zang for many years. Their relationship had been fluctuating and later he started dating another British model Emma Miller. He had had many relationships with many other models and other actresses as well. It is reported that he is currently dating German model Toni Garrn. The couple had been dating since 2013 from the month of May.
