Jennifer Lien is an American actress for the big and small screen. She was born on August 24, 1974 as Jennifer Ann Lien. She is best known for her role as the alien Kes on the television series Star Trek: Voyager.

Lien is a native of Palos Heights, Illinois, United States of America as she was born and spent most of her early life there. She was welcomed to the family as the youngest of three children. Her mother, Delores Lien, was a college teacher. She has an older sister and an older brother. Besides that, there is not much information on where and how she was raised and her early childhood. Jennifer had an early interest in acting and wanted to act from a young age. Upon being encouraged by her English and drama teachers, she started performing in a summer theatre and festivals wheb she was 13 years old. She appeared in Shakespeare's "Othello" and "The Tempest" before moving on to more contemporary dramatic and musical theater.

Her best known character came in 1994 when she was cast as Kes on Star Trek: Voyager. She was released from the series in at the beginning of the fourth season but she guest starred in one episode in season six. In the movie American History X, she appeared as older sister Davina Vinyard. Lien played the character of Sandy, in the 1998 movie SLC Punk! As a voice actress, she has lent her voice for the dubbed English version of a French horror film called Baby Blood. She also voiced the character of adult Vitani in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, and voiced Agent "L" for the first three seasons of Men in Black: The Series. In 2003, Lien left her acting career to pursue a medical career.

Talking about her personal life, Lien is a married woman. Her husband is the writer and filmmaker Phil Hwang. The couple has been married for several years now, although their exact wedding date is yet to be revealed. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, Jonah, on September 5, 2002. After giving birth to her son, Lien has retired from acting and voiceover work; however, she was credited as executive producer on her husband's comedy 2008 movie Geek Mythology.
