Jami Gertz is an American actress for the big and small screen. She was born in the year 1965 and celebrates her birthday every year on October 28. She is most known for her early roles in movies such as Sixteen Candles, The Lost Boys, Crossroads, Less Than Zero and Quicksilver. Among the television audiences she is famous for her role in the 1980s television series called Square Pegs and 1996's Twister, as well as for her portrayal of Judy Miller in the CBS sitcom Still Standing and as Debbie Weaver in the ABC sitcom The Neighbors.
She is a native of Chicago, Illinois, United States as she was born there but spent most of her early life in the city’s nearby suburb Morton Grobve, Illinois. She was born as a daughter to Sharyn and Walter Gertz, who worked as a builder and contractor. She has two brothers Scott and Michael. She was born to a devout Jewish family and follows Conservative Judaism. About her educational background, she attended Maine East High School and graduated from there.
Luckily for Jami, she was discovered by Norman Lear in a nationwide talent search. To better understand acting, she started studying drama at NYU. Gertz started her acting career from a very young age and as a child actor, she can be seen in an episode of Diff'rent Strokes and had a recurring role on The Facts of Life. To start her film career, she debuted with the romantic movie Endless Love which came out in 1981. The following year, she landed a co-starring role in the series Square Pegs, which unfortunately got cancelled after airing for nearly a year in 1983. In 1984, she appeared in the teen film Sixteen Candles and had relatively bigger roles in movies such as Less Than Zero, The Lost Boys, Twister, Solarbabies, Crossroads, Listen to Me, Jersey Girl, and many others. She returned to television in 1994 with Seinfield and had recurring roles in the 1997 season of ER, Ally McBeal in 2000, Entourage in 2009-10. Besides these, she has also appeared in Modern Family, Shark, Keeping Up with the Steins, and many others. Since 2012, she has been portraying the role of Debbie Weaver in the ABC comedy series The Neighbors.
About her personal life, she is married to Anthony Ressler. They married in the year 1989. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, Oliver Jordan Ressler on May 6, 1992. They have two more children, both sons, Nicholas Simon Ressler born on February 17, 1995 and Theo Ressler born in 1998. Currently, she is living a happy and satisfied life with her family in the exclusive Beverly Park community and also havs a vacation home in Malibu, California. She hasn’t been rumored to be a lesbian. Gertz, along with her husband are members of the investment that purchased the MLB franchise Milwaukee Brewers. Gertz-Ressler High Academy, a member of The Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, is named after them and they were named the number one donor to charity of any celebrity in 2010 by Giving Back Fund.
