James Franco ~ Biography
James Franco is an American actor, a director, producer, teacher, screenwriter and also a poet who was born on 19th April, 1978 in Palo Alto, California. He had two younger brothers and grew up in California. In his early age he did an internship at Lockheed Martin. He then graduated from Palo Alto High School during the year of 1996. When he was in high school he used to act different plays. When he was in his high school years he got arrested for graffiti, underage drinking and also stealing fragrances from the departmental store. The fragrances he stole was sold to his classmates by himself. Later he got enrolled in the University of California at the Los Angeles. He took English as a major subject and later dropped out of college as his parents suggested him to. After he dropped out he began to continue on his acting career. At that time he took up a job in McDonalds and used to practice on his accents by presenting it to the customers.
In his starting phase he took up an audition in Los Angeles where he got a commercial for the Pizza Hut. He continued on his small television commercial and roles. And in the year of 1999 he got casted on Freaks and Geeks which used to be telecasted in the NBC. This show was the breakthrough for his acting career. His movie debut was Never Been Kissed and then acted another movie in 2000 titled Whatever it takes and played the role of famous popular jock Chris. It was considered as the modern version remake of the Cyrano de Bergerac.
In the year 2002 he did a role in Spider Man where he played the role of Harry Osborn. This role popularized him among the audience and in the Hollywood as well. At the beginning of the screening of the movie, Franco was to play the role of spiderman but it was later handed to Toby Maguire. The movie grossed $822 million worldwide. And in his next movie he got be directed by Nicholas Cage. The movie was titled Sonny and was released in 2002. He again got the chance to feature in the third installment of the movie Spider Man which grossed $891 million. The movie was considered a great success although there were mixed comments and was also the highest grossing movie of Franco. In the year 2008 he did a comedy movie, Pineapple Express which also starred Seth Rogen and was also co-written by Rogen. The movie was produced by Judd Apatow. He played the role of a pot dealer in the movie. He was nominated for Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor in A Musical or Comedy.
He then began to play in 30 Rock where he featured as himself and played along with Jenna Maroney. He portrayed Aron Ralston who was a real life mountain climber in the movie 127 hours which was directed by Danny Boyle. The movie earned $60.7 million and was also nominated for the Golden Globe for his act in the movie. His some other appearances include the appearance in NBC’s Minute To Win It and also a cameo in the movie, The Green Hornet which was released in 2011. He then did a movie by Rupert Wyatt Rise of the Planet of the Apes which was a fresh version of the Planet of the Apes. His another release was in 2013 Oz The Great and Powerful which was on 8th March. The movie was considered to be a prequel to the movie The Wonderful Wizard of Oz which was released in the year 1900. He had been in relationship with Marla Sokoloff for five years and then to Ahna O’Reilly.
