Riverdale family is currently mourning the death of Luke Perry, who played the role of Fred Andrews, father of main character Archie (K.J. Apa). The production company shut down production for the day after Monday’s news of Perry’s death, less than a week after he suffered a stroke.

While Perry’s family and his colleagues are mourning the death of the 51-year-old, what does this mean to the show without Perry’s character Fred?

How Will Riverdale Move on?

Riverdale just finished 13th of 22 episodes of season 3. It is unclear how many remaining episodes have been shot. The TV adaptation of Archie Comics, Riverdale has already been renewed for a fourth season. Even though Fred is not a main character in the show, his absence will be a big bump for the show to resolve. In 2017, Training Day star Bill Paxton died while season one was airing. CBS then canceled the show after the first season.

In some cases, the show continues the production like when Cory Monteith passed away at 31 in 2013, Glee announced that his character would die in the fifth season. It is not sure what the show will do, but it will try its best to adjust and continue after the death of an important character. The 14th episode of Riverdale season 3 airs on Wednesday (8 EST/PST) March 6.
