Helena Bonham Carter, is an English actress. She is known for her roles in films, such as The King's Speech, Fight Club and A Room with a View. She is equally known for her role of Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter series. In collaboration with director Tim Burton, she has worked in films like Big Fish, Planet of the Apes, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Dark Shadows. Carter was born on 26 May, 1966, in Golders Green, London to Elena, a psychotherapist and Raymond Bonham Carter, who came from a prominent British political family, was a merchant banker and served as the alternative British director representing the Bank of England at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. during the 1960s. She has two brothers, Edward and Thomas. She attended South Hampstead High School, and completed her A-levels from Westminster School. She was denied admission to King's College, Cambridge, because college officials were afraid that she would leave during the course to pursue her acting career.
On winning a national writing contest in 1979, she used the money to pay for her entry into the actors' Spotlight directory. She made her professional acting début in a television adaptation of K. M. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, Billy Raymond Burton, on 4 October 2003. Their daughter Nell Burton was born on 15 December 2007 in Central London. Before Burton, she lived with Kenneth Branagh from 1994 to September 1999.
