Christina Maria Aguilera popularly known as Christina Aguilera is an American singer, song writer, record producer, dancer, TV personality and an actress. She was born in 1980 and celebrates her birthday on December 18. She began her journey in the entertainment industry at an early age appearing on TV series like Star Search and The Mickey Mouse Club. With her self-titled debut album released in 1999, her fame rocketed sky high. She established herself as a pop icon and was titled the ‘Princess of Pop’. She has won four Grammys and one Latin Grammy Award and has a star on her name in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also served as a mentor on The Voice and is involved in various charity works.
She is a native of Staten Island, New York, United States of America as she was born and raised there. Her father Fausto Xavier Aguilera was a United States Army soldier and her mother Shelly Loraine was a musician. She is Ecuadorian descent from her father, Irish ancestry from her mother and therefore has mixed ethnicity. Because of his father’s service, her family required moving frequently. She had a turbulent childhood and music was her only means to escape form it. Her parents divorced when she was six and so she went to live with her grand-mother in Pittsburgh. As she grew up, her interest in music flourished and she started performing in and wining the local talent shows. She went to Rochester Area School District and Marshall Middle School near Wexford, and also attended North Allegheny Intermediate High School but left it to be home schooled because of bullying at school.
In order to kick start her professional singing career, Christina auditioned for a position on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1991. Due to age requirements, she was allowed to the series two years later and performed sketch comedy and musical numbers until the show got cancelled in 1994. Her cover of Reflection by Whitney Houston peaked at #15 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart, and received nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. Following its success, Aguilera was signed by RCA Records and the label quickly began organizing her self-titled debut album, released on August 24, 1999. The album peaked at the top on the U.S. Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart and has been certified octuple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) making her one of few female artists to have three number-one singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100. Aguilera's second studio album and first Spanish-language album, Mi Reflejo, was released on September 12, 2000 peaking at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Latin Albums for nineteen weeks. On October 24, 2000, she released her third studio album and first Christmas album, My Kind of Christmas. Her fourth album Stripped, released on October 25, 2002, was different from her previous albums as she took inspiration form hip hop, soul, rock and R&B. She has released other three albums Back to Basics, Bionic and Lotus.
During her first tour, she her boyfriend was dancer Jorge Santos. Their relationship did not last much longer. In 2005, she married the music marketing executive Jordan Bratman. She has a son, Max, with her then husband. The couple separated in 2010 and their divorce was finalized in 2011. After Jordan, she got in a relationship with Matthew Rutler, the set assistant of the movie Burlesque. She got engaged to him in February 2014 and their first daughter, Summer Rain was born on August 16, 2014. She has taken the help of plastic surgery several times and had her breasts enhanced.
