American political commentator and news anchor, Chris Hayes, was born in the year 1979 and celebrates his birthday on February 28, every year. His full name is Christopher L. Hayes but he is popularly known by his professional name Chris Hayes. He works at the MSNBC and hosts the weekday opinion and news television show, All In with Chris Hayes. He served as the host of Up with Chris Hayes and is frequently seen as the guest host of shows like The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and The Rachel Maddow Show. He became the youngest host of a prime-time show on country’s major cable news channel at the age of 34. He also serves as the Editor-at-Large of The Nation magazine. He has also authored a book.
Hayes is a native of Bronx. He was born to an Italian American father, Roger Hayes, who works as the NYC Department of Health advocate and Italian American mother, Geri Hayes, who works for the NYC Department of Education. He is a Catholic by religion and has mixed ethnicity of Irish, American and Italian. He went to Hunter College High School in New York City to receive his high school education. For his undergraduate degree, he attended Brown University. He graduated from there in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. During his time at Brown, he was an active member of the student theater group called Production Workshop.
He was a contributing writer for the Nation and a Puffin Foundation Writing fellow at The National Institute from 2006 to 2007. He was announced the Washington, D.C. editor on November 1, 2007. Currently, he serves as the Senior Editor of the labor focused monthly magazine, In These Times, based in Chicago. He also makes regular contributions to an independent weekly newspaper, Chicago Reader. In July 2010, he served as the guest host of The Rachel Maddow Show and has hosted numerous shows for MSNBC like The Last Word with O’Donnell, Countdown with Keith Olberman, The Ed Show, and many others. His first prime-time show, All In with Chris Hayes, premiered on 1 April, 2013 making him the youngest host of a prime-time show on country’s major cable news channel. He published his first book Twilight of the Elites: America After Meritocracy in June 2012. Overall, the book received good reviews.
He is married to Kate Shaw. His wife is an assistant professor of law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. In November 2011, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, Ryan Elizabeth Shaw-Hayes. In March 2014, their second child, a son, Davis Emanuel Shaw-Hayes was born. Previously, they lived in Washington, D.C. but later moved to New York City. He lives there with his wife and kids. He has a beautiful relation with his wife. They are still pretty much in love in divorce is out of the picture for a long time. He is a supporter of the LGBT rights but has received criticism from the gay community due to his comments on LGBT.
