Sophie Danièle Sylvie Maupu popularly known by her professional name Sophie Marceau is a French actress, director, screen writer and author. She was born in the year 1966 and celebrates her birthday on November 5 every year. She started her career from a young age and by the time she was in her teens, she had already gained popularity with films such as La Boum, which was her debut film and its sequel La Boum 2. With the success of the movies, she became a well-known film star in Europe, her success followed suit with subsequent movies such as Revenge of the Musketeers, Fanfan, Pacific Palisades and L'Étudiante. The 2005 movie Braveheart turned her into an international film star. She is also known for other Hollywood movies such as The World is Not Enough and Firelight.
She was born in Paris, France, as the second child to actress mother Simone, who worked as a shop assistant and father Benoît Maupu, who was a truck driver. When she was nine years old, her parents divorced. Besides these, there is not much information about her early life and how she was raised. Marceau ventured into the entertainment industry in February 1980, when she shot photos for a modeling agency. She wasn’t very positive about it, but luckily for her, she was recommended to the casting director Françoise Menidrey, who was looking for a fresh teen face for Claude Pinoteau's film La Boum. Marceau was ultimately selected for the role and thus signed a long term contract with Gaumont Film Company. Upon La Boum’s release, the film was a huge success not only in France but several other European countries as well leading to a sequel released in 1982. Then her focus shifted to doing more dramatic roles like in Joyeuses Pâques, Chouans!, My Nights Are More Beautiful Than Your Days, L'amour braque and Police. She became an international sensation with the 1995 movie Braveheart. In recent times, Sophie has continued to appear in, mainly in French films with a wide variety of roles like in À ce soir, Trivial, Female Agents, LOL (Laughing Out Loud), Don't Look Back, With Love... from the Age of Reason, Happiness Never Comes Alone, Arrêtez-moi, and many others. She wore the director’s hat for the first time in 2002 for Speak to Me of Love and she was named as Best Director at the Montreal World Film Festival. As an author she has penned the semi-autobiographical novel, Menteuse (Telling Lies), which was published in 2001.
Marceau had a long term relationship with the director Andrzej ?u?awski. They started dating back in 1985 and have worked together in several films. He is 26 years her senior. She has a son named Vincent with him who was born in July 1995. Marceau ended her relationship with Andrzej in 2001 and later the same year, she started dating producer Jim Lemley. She soon became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter Juliette on June 2002 in London. Their relationship ended six years later in 2007. After Jim, Christopher Lambert came in her life. She had a seven year long relationship with him which ended on July 11, 2014. Since Marceau has never been married she never had husband or divorce.
Sophie has often showed off her hot body with perfect measurements in a bikini. The stunning actress has long legs and stands tall at the height of 5 feet and 7 and a quarter inch.
