Sarah Louise Palin is an American politician, commentator, and author.  She was born February 11, 1964 as Sarah Louise Heath. Sarah served as the 9th Governor of Alaska, from 2006 until her resignation in 2009. She became the first Alaskan on the national ticket of a major political party, and also the first Republican woman to be nominated for the Vice Presidency, when she was nominated for Vice President in the 2008 Presidential election.  She has been providing political commentary for Fox News, since January 2010 and even starred in a reality television show called Sarah Palin's Alaska. Sarah has also written a book Going Rogue, which has sold over two million copies.

Palin is a native of Sandpoint, Idaho, United States of Americas as she was born there as the third child to a science teacher and track and field coach father, Charles R. "Chuck" Heath,  and a school secretary mother, Sarah "Sally" Heath. She has a brother, Chuck Jr., and two sisters, Heather, and Molly. Palin has Irish, German, and English ancestry.  Her family moved to Skagway, Alaska, and then to Eagle River in 1969, before finally settling in Wasilla in 1972. There she attended Wasilla High School, graduating in 1982. Palin won the 1984 Miss Wasilla beauty pageant, and then finished third in the Miss Alaska pageant. After that, she went to the University of Hawaii at Hilo but transferred to Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu for a semester in the fall of 1982. Then she joined North Idaho College, for the spring and fall semesters of 1983 and later enrolled at the University of Idaho in Moscow in August 1984, for an academic year. After that, she went to Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska in the fall of 1985, returning to the University of Idaho in January 1986 to receive her bachelor's degree in communications in May 1987.

Upon graduation, she started her professional career and worked as a sportscaster for KTUU-TV and KTVA-TV in Anchorage. She also served as a sports reporter for the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman. In 1992, she was elected to the Wasilla City Council, and four years later in 1996, she became Mayor of Wasilla. In 2002, she ran for Lieutenant Governor but was unsuccessful in it. After that in 2003, she was appointed as a Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission responsible for supervising the state's oil and gas fields for safety and efficiency. In December 2006, she was elected as the Governor of Alaska. With this, she became the youngest person and first woman to be the governor of the state. Palin continued on with the job until July 2009, when she gave her resignation. Since then, she has endorsed and campaigned for the Tea Party movement, as well as several candidates in multiple election cycles. Her latest TV show, Amazing America with Sarah Palin, premiered on April 3, 2014, on the Sportsman Channel. Palin’s online news network, The Sarah Palin Channel, was launched on July 27, 2014.

About her personal life, Palin is a married woman and receives her last name from her husband Todd Palin. He is her high school sweetheart and the two eloped in August 1988. Her husband worked an oil-field production operator for the British oil company BP and retired in 2009. Currently, he owns a commercial fishing business. Together, they have five children: sons Track (born April 1989) and Trig Paxson Van (born April 2008), and daughters Bristol Sheeran Marie (born October 1990), Willow (born 1994), and Piper (born 2001). Palin has two grandchildren.
