A professional golfer of English origin, Sir Nicholas Alexander Faldo who is commonly known as Nick Faldo is one of the remembered players in the history of Golf. Nick was entitled with ‘A top player of his era’ by his fellow competitors. Born on the 18th of July, 1957, Faldo is renowned by his time in the European Tour where he won the hearts of the spectators by his single-minded dedication that he showed for the game. He has also achieved the No.1 spot on the Official World Rankings for his unmatched total of about 97 weeks. Faldo is also famous for his wins during his time, almost 30 victories on European turf and six major championships out of which three are Open and three Masters championships. After his retirement from his first love he went on to become the so-called TV-pundit for many of the major golf championships. It was in 2006 that he became one of the lead analyst for the sport for the CBS sports and the BBC Sports that as on-air for the Open Championship.
Digging into his career, he can be considered one of the greats of the sports when looking at his achievements. His inspiration was Jack Nicklaus who was one of the pioneers of the sport from 1971. Faldo decided to take up golf at just the young age of 13. It was not long before he got the championships to his name, some of which being the English Amateur and British Youths Championship. His skill and determination made him turn into a professional in the late 70’s. Turning professional was the golden step in his career as he experienced instant success when finishing on 8th spot and 3rd overall on the European Tour’s Order of Merit. This was extended with the award of the Youngest player in the prestigious Ryder Cup at the young age of just 20 years. In the early 80’s, Faldo became the European Tour’s leading player with two Sun Alliance PGA Championship that he won back to back. But he did not boast in his success and instead went under the tutelage of one of the then greats David Leadbetter who subjected the statement “The swing looked beautiful. It has marvellous rhythm. But it camouflaged a number of faults" in aspect to Faldo’s swing. A sudden change of skill and procedure was a drag-down for Faldo as he was seen to have lost the touch of swing for some period of time. But after three long years of hard work and patience, Faldo was back with a new improvement and what better way to flaunt it than winning the Peugeot Spanish Open which he consideres as the major turning point from which he had his confidence restored. It was not long that Faldo got what he was working hard for, his finishing touch which then won him the first major title- The Open Championship.
Like in his professional life, Faldo was near-about successful in his personal one as well. He played Casanova as the courtesy of his charming looks and was loved by many women who aspired to be close to him. At the age of 21, he married Melanie Rockall, his first wife. But the couple got divorce when Rockall found out about the on-going relationship between Faldo and his manger’s secretary. With the height of his career going up, he was active with his love life as being involved with his golf-based girlfriend, Brenna Cepelak. He has had many relationships and is a very hard guy to catch up with either be golf or love life.
