Julia Ormond is a renowned English actress for the film and television. She was born on January 4, 1965. Her full name is Julia Karin Ormond. Her fame rocketed during the 90s with the appearance in hit films such as Legends of the Fall (1994), First Night (1995) and The Barber of Serbia (1998). For her role in the HBO movie Temple Grandin, she won an Emmy Award for the category, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie in 2010.
Talking about her early life, she was born in Epsom, Surrey, United Kingdom. Her father John Ormond was a computer software designer and her mother, Josephine was a laboratory technician. She went to independent schools. First she attended Guildford High Schools and then went to Cranleigh School. She had a keen interest in acting from a younger age and caught a lot of attention for her performance in My Fair Lady and Guys and Dolls.
She professionally started her career in acting in 1989, with a British TV series, Traffik. She played the role of a drug addict, Caroline. She has established herself as a notable TV star too with appearances in shows such as Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Young Catherine, Animal Farm, Iron Jawed Angels, CSI: NY, Temple Grandin, Mad Men and is still doing the lead role on Witches of East End.
Julia was married to fellow actor Rory Edwards. The marriage did not last long and they separated in 1994. She then got married to Jon Rubin. Her then husband is a political activist. They got married in 1999 and she has a daughter, Sophie (born on 2004), with him. This marriage also ran its course before coming to an end and she appears to be single at the moment. Besides these, she was appointed as the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, on December 2, 2005. She has been an activist fighting against human trafficking and partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. She is a founding co-chairman of FilmAid International and has established Alliance to Stop Slavery and End Trafficking (ASSET).
