Ernest Lee Hudson Sr. is an American actor but is widely known as Ernie Hudson for his acting profession. He is mainly known for the role in movies like Ghostbusters where he played the role of Winston Zeddemore, Warden Leo Glynn in the HBO series of Oz and also the role of Sergeant Albrecht in the movie The Crow. Hudson was born in the Michigan State in Benton Harbor. He never got to know his father and was raised by his grandmother, Arrana Donald. His mother died when he was two years old. His mother was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He has also got a half-brother named Lewis Hudson.
At first he was recruited in the U.S. Marine Corporation. Later he moved to Detroit. He was then engaged as the resident playwright for the Concept East. It was regarded as the oldest black theatre company in the United States. He then attended the Wayne State University where he got his writing as well as acting skills developed. Then in some few years he established his own theatre and named it Actors’ Ensemble Theatre where he got other young black men to work for the writings and appear in their own looks. He then attended the Yale School of Drama where he got his graduation. Talking about his religion status he stated in an interview that he practices Christian but does not believe in the monopoly church concept.
He first made his acting career in the year of 1982 where he did Penitentiary II which had the star cast of Leon Isaac Kennedy. He then had also appeared as the guest role in various shows in the television which includes The Dukes of Hazzard and The A-Team. He was also engaged in the television series of the show Fantasy Island where he did first episode and gave the role of voodoo man, Jamu. He was recognized widely when he did the role of Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters. The movie was released in the year 1984. He was also featured in the sequel of Ghostbusters in the year 1989. Hudson had given audition for the animated series of The Real Ghostbusters. The role was not provided to him as the role was appointed to Arsenio Hall. He did a major supporting role in the movie The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. He did the role of mentally ill Solomon. He was then casted in the HBO series of Oz where he portrayed Warden Leo Glynn.
The series of Oz also features Ernie Hudson Jr., his son. His son did the role of Hamid Khan as a Muslim inmate. His role as Munro in the movie Congo was also a remarkable act. Hudson did another notable role as Police Sergeant Albrecht in the movie The Crow which was released in the year 1994. His some other roles also include Harry McDonald in the movie Miss Congeniality. He played as the FBI senior of actor Sandra Bullock in the movie. Hudson appears in the episode Ethan of the television series of Stargate SG-1. He plays as the role of Pernaux. He had also featured in the film The Basketball Diaries as Reggie. And in the year of 2006 he appeared in the television movie The Ron Clark Story and did the role of Principle Turner. He did the repeat role of Dr. Fields in the year 2008 in the television series of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. His some other similar roles include in Law & Order where he featured in the final season. He did the role as Lt. Anita Van Buren’s boyfriend and to be fiancé. He also did the role as Stuart Owens in Torchwood: Miracle Day. However his latest acts can be seen in Mob City and Dear Secret Santa.
