One of the oldest college of United States ‘Rasmussen College’ is a public benefit corporation which offers associates and bachelor’s degrees at 24 campuses. The college’s 24 campuses are located in Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Kansas. It also offers online classes in ‘Bachelor of Science (BS)’, ‘Associate of Applied Science(AAS)’ and ‘Associate of Science (AS)’ degrees in career focused areas.

Let’s talk about its historical background, the college was initiated by ‘Walter Rasmussen’ as the ‘Rasmussen Practical School of Business’ in 1990. The first classes of the school were conducted in September 1990. In its initial phase, the number of female students started to increase due to advent of Women’s Suffrage in the year 1920. Walter Rasmussen took retirement from his post in 1945 and ‘Walter Nemitz’ held the responsibility of director of the college. Nemitz was working with the college since 1934. The total number of graduated students reached to 22,400 by the year 1950. Later I 1961, Nemitz’s sons ‘Wilbur Nemitz’ and ‘Robert Nemitz’ took the ownership of school. After thirteen of their ownership, the college acquired ‘St. Cloud Business College’ and in 1979, it also acquired ‘Northern Technical School of Business’. In the year 1983, the school started a campus in Mankato, Minnesota. Additional campuses were added to its main campus. The additional campus were started in ‘Eagan, Minnesota’, ‘St. Cloud, Minnestota’, ‘Rockford, Illinois’, ‘Lake Elmo, Minnesota’, ‘Eden Prairie, Minnesota’, ‘Blaine, Minnesota’, ‘Topeka, Kansas’, ‘Overland Park, Kansas’, ‘Green Bay, Wisconsin’, ‘Mokena-Tinley Park, Illinois’ and ‘Wausau, Winconsin’. In the year 2002, the school also started an online campus. The school merged two colleges ‘Aakers College’ based in North Dakota and ‘Webster College’ based in Florida. The college is accredited by ‘Higher Learning Commission (HLC)’ of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The current active president of the college is Kristi A. Waite.

Rasmussen College is currently offering over 80 programs. The school is divided into six schools named ‘Health Sciences’, ‘Business’, ‘Justice Studies’, ‘Education’, ‘Nursing’ and ‘Technology and Design’. The college further added programs in ‘Internet marketing’ after it collaborated with Market Motive Inc. The students are given various choices under each school. Under ‘School of Health Sciences’ the students are benefited with the subject ‘Health Information Management’. Likewise, the schools are benefited with the subjects like ‘Accounting’, ‘Healthcare Management’, ‘Public Accounting’, ‘Accelerated HR and Organizational Leadership’, ‘Accelerated Marketing’, ‘Accelerated Business Systems Analysis’, ‘Accelerated Finance’, ‘Accelerated Entrepreneurship’, ‘Accelerated Business Management’ and ‘Business Management’ under School of Business. School of Design offers the programs like ‘Graphic Design’ where the students can specialize in ‘Web and Interactive Design’ and ‘Animation and Motion Graphics’. School of Justice Studies offers the programs of ‘Criminal Justice’ which has specialization course of accelerated CJ Leadership and management. School of Nursing offers RN to BSN and School of Technology offers the programs like ‘Game and Simulation Programming’, ‘Computer Science’, ‘Information Security’ and ‘Information Technology Management’.

Considering its quality education, the large numbers of students frequently visit this college each year. There are certain criteria to get admitted in the college. The admission process is different for the ‘Adult students’, ‘Transfer Students’, ‘Nursing Students’, ‘High School Students’ and ‘Military Students’. The students are charged an affordable tuition fees. The college has lowered its tuition costs up to 24% on the selected programs. To assure the students about the stability in their tuition fees, there is established an institution called ‘Tuition Lock’. The college also provides some financial aid service and scholarship to the deserving students. In 2012, the college awarded over $11 million grants and tuition discounts to the students through ‘Partner Success Grant’, ‘American Heroes Grant’, ‘Fast-track tuition’, ‘Military discounts’ and ‘Corporate discounts’. The award amount is determined through ‘Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)’. There is availability of various types of scholarships like Regional Scholarship and National Scholarships. Under regional scholarship, the students are benefited with the scholarships like ‘AcceleratED scholarship’, ‘Achieve Scholarship’, ‘Real/Change Scholarship’, ‘Dollars for Scholars’, ‘Wisconsin Resident Grant’, ‘T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood *FLORIDA’, ‘T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood* MINNESOTA’ And ‘T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood* WISCONSIN’. Likewise, under there are scholarships like ‘AceeleratED Scholarship’, ‘Achieve Scholarship’, ‘Real/Change Scholarship’, ‘First in My Family Hispanic Scholarship’ and ‘National Military Family Association Scholarship Fund’. These scholarships are provided to minimize the student loan debt and make college degree more affordable.

Like its quality education service, the college also has well-managed library. The library and resources of the college are made available to alumni in both online at its all 24 campus locations. The alumni have right to use the resources of the library. The resources of the library includes more than 25,000 full-text books, more than 50 research databases and millions of full-text articles which is available in online as well as there is availability of 1000 resources in the campus. The college frequently organizes various events. The events which are active in the college include the nursing information sessions and information sessions. Likewise, the college is going to organize Fall Career Fair in September 8, 2014 and it is also going to prepare students for an exciting opportunity to step into their career in September 12, 2014. In addition to this, it is going to organize Graduation Celebration at Mankato Campus in September 20, 2014.
