Located in Lawrenceville, Georgia of United States, ‘Gwinnett Technical College’ is one of the best technical colleges of United States. Initially, the college was named as the ‘Gwinnett Area Technical School’ in the year 1984. After its establishment, the college added various programs and expanded its facilities. With the increment of facilities and programs, the number of students increased in the high rate. Gwinnett Technical College was established to meet the increasing demand for technical training in the year 1984. The school’s name changed into ‘Gwinnett Technical Institute’ in 1988. Later the institute aligned Gwinnett Tech along with the ‘network of state technical institutes’ under ‘Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education(DTAE)’. Soon after its alignment, DTAE gave approval ‘Gwinnett Tech’ to grant the ‘Associate degrees’ in applied technology(AAT) in the sic programming areas. The approval made the way for ‘Gwinnett Tech’ to pursue accreditation with ‘Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges’. On July 6, 2000 the ‘Gwinnett Technical Institute’ changed its name as ‘Gwinnett Technical College’. The college’s name was changed in a motive to better reflect its position within ‘region’s higher education market’. The process of changing the name of institution was made possible by ‘Georgia’s A+ Education Reform Act of 2000’. The act allowed the institutes to work with proper accreditation as college.
Since its establishment, the college has added various new facilities which include ‘the Health Sciences Building’, ‘Corporate Training Center’, ‘Environmental Horticulture Center’ and ‘Computer Training Center’. It has expanded all its facilities and building during its 28 year of history. In the year 2003, the ‘George Busbee International Center of Workforce Development’ was started. The center was dedicated to ‘Workforce training’. The ‘George Busbee International Center for Workforce Development’ incudes total 350 seat auditorium. It also includes a technology center which is facilitated with flexible meeting classroom, conference and exhibit space. During the summer season of the year 2006 the college started new education center named ‘D. Scott Hudgens, Jr. Early Education Center’. The center was established with the huge investment of $7 million. It serves as 26,500 square foot interactive classroom and observation site for all the students enrolled in its ‘Early Childhood Care and Education Program’. In addition to this, the college also provided the community with ‘Early Childhood care’ and ‘Pre-school instruction’ which include two Georgia Pre-K classes.
Gwinntech Technical College is currently offering nearly 50 Associate degree, diploma and Certificate programs. In addition to this, the college is also offering hundreds of continuing ‘Education Seminars’ and ‘Workshops’ in each quarter to improve their job skills and to provide specialized training.
