Durham Technical Community College often referred to as DTCC or Durham Tech is a two-year institution for higher education and technical training. It is located in Durham, North Carolina, United States of America and is a charter member of the North Carolina Community College System. The college serves Northern Durham County at its Northern Durham Center, and in Orange County at its Orange County Campus. It was founded on September 5, 1961 as Durham Industrial Education Center. It was renamed to Durham Technical Institute on March 30, 1965. Finally, the institution became Durham Technical Community College on July 22, 1986. Durham Technical Community College has provided high-quality, affordable, and convenient technical and career education; served as the foundation to a bachelor’s degree; enabled tens of thousands of Triangle residents to enjoy continuing education offerings; and given many thousands more a second chance at success through adult literacy programs. Durham Technical Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate’s degrees, diplomas and certificates and is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges.
Durham Tech offers career programs leading to over 100 degrees, certificates, and diplomas and university transfer programs. The University Transfer programs include Associate in Science Degree and Associate in Arts Degree. The Two-Year Degree or Certificate Programs include Associate in General Education, Community Spanish Facilitator Certificate and Medical Spanish Facilitator. Under Applied and Public Service Technologies, degrees can be obtained in Architectural Technology, Automotive Systems Technology, Basic Law Enforcement Training, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Computer Integrated Machining, Criminal Justice Technology, Electrical Systems Technology (Residential/Industrial electricians), Electronics Engineering Technology (Consumer equipment), Emergency Management, Environment, Health, and Safety Technology, Fire Protection Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Sustainability Technologies and Welding Technology. Business Education and Information Technologies provides courses in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Technology, Computer Programming, Early Childhood Education, Information Systems Security, Medical Office Administration, Networking Technology, Office Administration, Paralegal Technology and Web Technologies. The Health Technologies programs include Clinical Trials Research Associate, Health Information Technology, Dental Laboratory Technology, Medical Assisting, and Opticianry. Nursing includes Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, RIBN Program, Nursing Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pharmacy Technology, Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Technology. A large portion of DTCC's students are part-time. In order to give them flexibility, DTCC has a large distance education program, offering numerous online courses and hybrid courses. The Online courses provide a flexible option for busy, motivated students to learn without having to come to campus. Hybrid courses combine distance learning with weekly on-campus meetings, giving you an online experience with a face-to-face personal touch (and fewer trips to campus).

The aid comes in four forms – grants, which do not have to be repaid; loans, which must be repaid; work-study provides the opportunity to work part time in administrative or departmental offices, the Library, laboratories, and other sites on or off campus from which the student earns an hourly wage and scholarship, which does not have to be repaid, is money awarded under special conditions — usually in recognition of outstanding achievements.. Students may receive any or all of these forms of aids.
