Wisconsin Lutheran College is a liberal arts college for higher education in affiliation with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Nine of the buildings of the campus are situated on the border of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, with some buildings in each city. The mission of Wisconsin Lutheran College's is to produce well prepared Christian leaders who understand the importance of serving others as they lead. The idea for a liberal arts college was developed in the early 1970s by a handful of dedicated Christian men. As a result, the junior college was opened in the fall of 1973 with a part-time faculty and two dozen students. Two years later, the school received affiliation from the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The Wisconsin Lutheran College campus now consists of the Gary Greenfield Administration Building, the Campus Center, the Center for Arts and Performance, the Marvin M. Schwan Library building, the Science Hall (renamed Generac Hall in May 2011), a recreational center, two dormitories, and several apartment buildings near campus owned by the school. The college received a 10-year accreditation in 2005 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It has been ranked annually as one of America’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report and was ranked 128th of 600 by Forbes on its list of America's Best Colleges.

Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and track & field; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball.
