Wisconsin Lutheran College is a liberal arts college for higher education in affiliation with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Nine of the buildings of the campus are situated on the border of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, with some buildings in each city.  The mission of Wisconsin Lutheran College's is to produce well prepared Christian leaders who understand the importance of serving others as they lead. The idea for a liberal arts college was developed in the early 1970s by a handful of dedicated Christian men. As a result, the junior college was opened in the fall of 1973 with a part-time faculty and two dozen students. Two years later, the school received affiliation from the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The Wisconsin Lutheran College campus now consists of the Gary Greenfield Administration Building, the Campus Center, the Center for Arts and Performance, the Marvin M. Schwan Library building, the Science Hall (renamed Generac Hall in May 2011), a recreational center, two dormitories, and several apartment buildings near campus owned by the school. The college received a 10-year accreditation in 2005 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It has been ranked annually as one of America’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report and was ranked 128th of 600 by Forbes on its list of America's Best Colleges.

Wisconsin Lutheran College offers nationally ranked academic programs taught from a Christian perspective. The college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. The College of Adult & Graduate Studies include provides distinctive pathways for students' development as Christian leaders committed to excellence and integrity with programs such as Certificate/Licensure, Continuing Education, Degree Completion and Graduate Studies. The Undergraduate Programs consist of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Pre-Professional Programs which include Pre-Dental, Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy and Pre-Veterinary Medicine. The college offers 29 Majors in Art, Biochemistry, Biology, Broad Field Social Sciences, Business Administration, Chemistry, China Studies, Communication, Communicative Arts, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, English, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, German, History, Human Social Services, Interdisciplinary, Mathematics, Media Design, Music, Nursing, Philosophy, Psychology, Spanish, Sport & Exercise Science, Theatre and Theology. Besides all these, the college provides experimental learning through the Work Experience and Internship Program which is an experiential academic program that allows students to convert theoretical knowledge into practical knowledge while earning college credit.

Wisconsin Lutheran College not only provides quality education but also ensures that the students enjoy their student life, no matter how brief it is, for academic, personal, and professional development of the students. The college encourages students to take part in numerous co-curricular and social options that enhance the overall educational experience. For this, the college has more than 30 recognized clubs and organizations. Wisconsin Lutheran College also provides on-campus living to almost three quarter of its total students at Stimac Hall and West Residence Hall for freshmen and sophomores. The college serves the students through Center for International Education, Career Development, Computing Services, Banking, Campus Center, Campus Ministry, Public Safety, Recreation Complex, Student Support  and Disability Services, Student Success Center and many others.  Wisconsin Lutheran College is equally popular for various sports activities and its teams are known as the Warriors. 14 athletic teams actively participate as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division III. The Warriors are also a member of the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) and was a member of the Lake Michigan Conference until the spring of 2006. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis and track & field; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball.  Wisconsin Lutheran provides financial aid opportunities which keep it within the reach of every qualified student. The financial aid comes in the form of scholarships awarded to traditional undergraduate students for academic achievement and merit based upon their success in high school, need based grants, endowed scholarships, loans that need to be repaid, student employment that helps students earn money to pay for tuition, veteran benefits and ROTC which offers scholarships that cover most or all of a student's college expenses and may be granted to high school students or current college students.

One of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the United States, Wisconsin Lutheran College is located in the suburban area of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is spread across an area of 40 acres.
