The Maine Business School (MBS) prepares students for successful careers in a global economy by providing exceptional undergraduate and graduate business education, creating new knowledge and serving the business community. The MBS program at the University of Maine offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with majors in: accounting, finance, management, and marketing, as well as a concentration in international business with accreditation to AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Since, the first master's degree conferred in 1881, graduate offerings have significantly expanded to include the current selection of over 70 master's and 30 doctoral areas of study. Along with the affordable fees, the Admissions Office at UMaine presents scholarships to first-time undergraduate, transfer students or international students based on their academic performance. All applicants to UMaine are encouraged to complete the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid, which provides financial assistance to qualified students through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans and student employment. The scholarship categories include UMaine Presidential Scholarship - for first-year students who are academically at the top of their class, UMaine Flagship Scholarship – for first-year students who have at least a 3.0 GPA and scores of 1400 or higher SAT Critical Reading/Math or 32 or higher ACT composite, UMaine Dean’s Scholarship – for first-year students who typically have at least a 3.0 GPA and scores of 1250 or higher SAT Critical Reading/Math or 28 or higher ACT composite, UMaine Black Bear Scholarship – for first-year students who typically have at least a 3.0 GPA and scores of 1100 or higher SAT Critical Reading/Math or 25 higher ACT composite, Transfer Merit Award – for students based on their academic GPA and completed credits at time of application usually reserved specifically for Phi Theta Kappa and Maine Community College transfer students, International Student Scholarship – for international students with outstanding academic credentials and Visual Arts and Performing Arts Scholarship – which may require an audition or portfolio, and a complete application for admission. Usually, merit scholarship awards are included with the letter of acceptance, although, some scholarships are awarded after the completion of admission process. Early Action applicants are considered first for scholarships, with remaining funds distributed until fully dispersed.
Located on Marsh Island, UMaine consists of, 30 administrative buildings, 37 academic buildings, 18 specific laboratory facilities, 18 residence halls, 14 Greek life houses, 4 dining facilities, 10 sports facilities and over 200 student clubs and organizations. It has five research field stations in the state, Blueberry Hill Farm in Jonesboro, Aroostook Farm in Presque, Rogers Farm in Stillwater Isle Highmoor, J.F.
