Thomas Edison State College (TESC) is one of the reputed colleges of United States. It is a public institution of ‘higher education’ which is located in Trenton, New Jersey. The college is in fact, one of the New Jersey’s 11 ‘Public Universities and Colleges’. TESC offers various degrees at both undergraduate and graduate level. The college was established on July 1, 1972 after gaining approval from the ‘New Jersey Board of Education’ in December 1971. The college was formed in honor of famous inventor ‘Thomas Alva Edison’. It has mission of providing flexible, high-quality and collegiate learning opportunities for the self-directed adults. Likewise, the college was founded in a purpose of providing ‘diverse’ and ‘alternative methods’ of achieving collegiate education of highest quality education for all the mature adults. In September 1979, the college shifted its place in downtown Trenton. The college’s all campus has expanded over many years and currently the college include ‘Townhouse Complex’ near to Kelsey Building, Academic Center and Canal Banks Building. Till date, the college has been active in preserving the essence of city’s legendary past and stimulated ‘Economic Development’ and restoring several historic buildings. In the year 2013, the college has announced to complete a new nursing simulation lab. The current working president of this college is George A. Pruitt.

TESC offers ‘Associate’, ‘Bachelor’s’ and ‘Master’s’ degrees in over 100 areas of study to over 28000 students in each and every state of United States. It also offers its degree programs in over 60 countries around the world. There are total five schools which are offering these programs. The five schools are named as ‘The Heavin School of Arts and Sciences’, ‘The School of Applied Science and Technology’, ‘The School of Business and Management’, ‘The W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing’ and ‘The John S. Watson School of Public Service and Continuing Studies’. Likewise the college is offering various degree programs at undergraduate level which include six ‘Associate’ degrees and 10 ‘Bachelors’ degrees. It is also offering nine graduate degrees to the students. The students are also offered with undergraduate, graduate and noncredit facilities. The college is offering Associate Degrees in the subjects like ‘Applied Science’, ‘Arts’, ‘Arts in Human Services’, ‘Science in Applied Science and Technology’, ‘Science in Business Administration’ and ‘Science in Natural Sciences and Mathematics’. Likewise the college is offering the Bachelor’s Degrees in ‘Arts’, ‘Science’, ‘Science in Applied Science and Technology’, ‘Science in Business Administration’, ‘Health Information Management’, ‘Science in Health Sciences’, Science in Human Services’, ‘Science in Medical Imaging Sciences’, ‘Science in Nursing’, ‘Science in Nursing’ and ‘Science in Organizational Leadership’. The students enrolled in this college can get graduate degrees in ‘Master of Arts in Educational Leadership’, ‘Master of Arts in Educational Technology and Online Learning’, ‘Master of Arts in Liberal Studies’, ‘Master of Business Administration’, ‘Master of Public Service Leadership’, ‘Master of Science in Applied Science and Technology’, ‘Master of Science in Homeland Security’, ‘Master of Science in Human Resources Management’, ‘Master of Science in Management’, ‘Master of Science in Management- Public Service Careers’ and ‘Master of Science in Nursing’. In addition to this, the college is offering various graduate certificates and undergraduate certificates.

This college is accredited by the ‘Middle States Commission on Higher Education’. The admission process for the students of undergraduate programs and graduate programs are different. To get admission in Undergraduate programs, the students have to fulfill some criteria. The students must be an adult 21 years of age and he/she must be high school graduate which means that the students must have passed General Education Development (GED) test successfully. Those who are applying for ‘Bachelor of Science in Nursing program’ must have registered nurse license in United States. For the graduate program students, the admission process is different. They must fulfill certain criteria to get admission in this college. The students must have qualitative evaluation of applicant’s undergraduate educational work from ‘regionally accredited college or University’. They must have GPA score of at least 2.75. Likewise, three to five years of professional and managerial experience is required for all the graduate degree programs. Those students who want to study ‘Master of Science in Nursing Program’ must have two years of work experience.

TESC charges an affordable amount of fees to all the students. The Students are charged with an application fee of $75, course extension fee of $194, course registration fee of $58, enrollment extension fee of $240, graduation fee of $299, late course registration fee of $158, late fee for annual enrollment of $55, leave of absence fee of $65, returned check fee of $35, technology services fee of $125 and transcript fee of $15. The college provides various scholarships to all the deserving students. It doesn’t discriminate students in terms of religion, ethnicity, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, marital status or disability while providing scholarship. Scholarship Award Year starts each with an opening of June-July application period for General Award Cycle. The students must need some criteria to be eligible for the scholarship.
