Located in St. Joseph County of South Bend, Indiana, United States of America, Indiana University South Bend is a public co-educational institution for higher education. It is the third largest campus of the Indiana University system and is the only comprehensive public university in North Central Indiana. Popularly known as IU South Bend and IUSB, it was founded in 1916 as Central High School in downtown South Bend. The campus relocated to its current location along the St. Joseph River in 1961 with the completion of Northside Hall. IU South Bend offers a wide range of exciting academic options with more than 100 majors and programs, including both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The undergraduates may pursue degree programs in their choice of seven different schools. The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts focuses Communication Studies, Fine Arts, Integrated New Media Studies, Music, Theater and Dance. The Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics has Accounting, Advertising, Banking, Economics, Finance, General Business, Health Care Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Small Business Entrepreneurship courses. The School of Education provides courses in Counseling and Human Services, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Professional Educational Services (Special Education and Educational Leadership). The College of Health Sciences has Dental Education, Nursing, Radiography and Medical Imaging degrees. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides Actuarial Science, African American Studies, American Studies, Anthropology, Applied Mathematics, Art History, Astronomy, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Earth and Space Science, East Asian Studies, English, Environmental Studies, European Studies, Film Studies, French, General Studies, Geology, German, Gerontology, History, Informatics, International Studies, Latin American Studies, Mathematical Science, Paralegal Studies, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, Spanish, Sustainability Studies, Women's and Gender Studies, World Language Studies degrees. IU South Bend offers a bachelor’s degree (BSW) and a master’s degree (MSW) in Social Work. The Purdue University College of Technology offers degrees in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology. The five schools and colleges of IU South Bend offer 17 master’s programs.

Indiana University of South Bend not only provides quality education but is also dedicated to ensure that the students enjoy their student life, no matter how brief it is, for academic, personal, and professional development of the students. The college encourages students to take part in numerous co-curricular and social options that enhance the overall educational experience. For this, the university has more than 100 recognized clubs and organizations ranging from History Club to Bowling Club. IUSB also provides residence halls to its undergraduate students, graduate students, and full-time professionals to assist with this growth and learning. IU South Bend serves student services through International Student Services, Veteran Student Services, Health & Wellness Center, Learning & Writing Center, Disability Support Services, Student Health Insurance, Bookstore, Student Counseling Center, Career Services, Child Development Center, and many others. It also boasts of its Franklin D. Schurz Library which serves as the information commons and intellectual center for IUSB campus. The collection includes 400,000 full-text books, bound journals, and government publications; 6,000 audio/video recordings; the campus archives; and special collections and over 175 databases which provide access to full-text articles and e-books. IUSB is equally popular for various sports activities and its teams are known as the Titans. The university competes in the National Association Intercollegiate Athletics (NIAA) as a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). In addition to its affordable fees, the University also provides financial aid opportunities which keep it within the reach of every qualified student. Almost every student attending Cumberland receives some form of financial aid. IU South Bend provides approximately $37 million in financial aid each year to more than half of its students. The financial aid comes in the form of grants offering "free money" which need not be paid back, loans that must be repaid, scholarships and work-study opportunities that allows working and earning money to help pay for the costs.

Cushioned along the St. Joseph River, the Indiana University South Bend campus has an area of over 80 acres, with 10 buildings, 46 laboratories 13 computer labs and a campus-wide wireless Internet environment. IUSB currently enrolls a total of 8,490 students including 7,860 undergraduate students and 630 graduates. IU South Bend welcomes them not only from all over the state but from the whole wide world as well.
