Fairleigh Dickinson University is a private, coeducational educational institution established in 1942. The university holds four colleges under its management and they are located in Madison/Florham Park, NJ, US; Teaneck/Hackensack, NJ, US; Vancouver, BC, Canada; Banbury, Oxfordshire, UK.
The university is currently functioning under the presidency of Sheldon Drucker. The college holds an endowment of $34.9 million. With the motto “strongly and gently” the college holds a glorious history nearly a century. The prestigious Fairleigh Dickinson University stands as a first American university to include international colleges under its management. In present days Fairleigh Dickinson University included around 1000 degrees programs in its curriculum. Dr. Peter Sammartino and wife Sally came up with an idea for establishing an institution and Fairleigh Dickinson University was established in 1942 as junior college. The college was named after Colonel Fairleigh S. Dickson. By 1948 the college expanded its working horizon and introduced four-year programs in its curriculum. The school was accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the year 1948. The school was accepted as Fairleigh Dickinson University by the New Jersey State Board of Education in 1958. In 1958, the University received the ex- Twombly-Vanderbilt land in Madison and Florham, Currently the Fairleigh Dickinson University stands as an associate of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
