Damien Memorial School is one of the private Roman Catholic preparatory schools which provides education for the grade of 6 to the 12. The Damien memorial School is situated in the Kalihi, Oahu which is in the Honolulu of the state of Hawaii. The school was established in the year of 1962 while the current working president is Bernard Ho. The Damien Memorial School has Peter Zawot as the principal. The Damien Memorial School has got 472 students enrolled which was reported in the year of 2012. The school has got the sponsorship from the Congregation of Christian Brothers while it has got the official approval from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Talking about the history of the Damien Memorial School, at the end of World War II, the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu saw the requirement for a second Catholic School on Oahu. The new school was named after the saint Damien de Veuster who was a neighborhood priest. The Congregation of Christian Brothers, students, and parents volunteered to turn the land, which incorporated 4 acres (16,000 m2) of taro patches and a good transaction of not smooth swamp into a school campus, because the companionship that started the production on Damien went insolvent. Beginning in the fall of 2012, Damien will legitimately become co-educational, finishing its nearly 50 years of all-male education.

Damien Memorial School has got its own missions as well as goals, Damien Memorial School directs young men and women from all walks of life to become dependable, deferential and community-minded citizens who are geared up to stand out in higher education and are ready for the challenges of their future.  As a community of assurance, missioned by the Roman Catholic Church, the Damien Memorial School espouse the memorandum of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as illustrated in the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education, and from side to side the unselfish service of Saint Damien of Moloka`i.   • Give priority to religious instruction with opportunities for faith development and religious understanding
  • Participate in the sacramental life of the Church and model a living faith through the use of rituals and symbols
  • Foster devotion to Mary and the communion of the saints
  • Ensure that Catholic identity permeates all endeavors: all classes and activities, procedures and policies, services and programs

 III.          Stand In Solidarity With Those Marginalized By Poverty And Injustice

  • Promote policies and structures that reflect a climate of compassion for the poor and disadvantaged
  • Include advocacy for peace, justice, global awareness, and care for the Earth
  • Prepare students to work toward the creation of a just society
  • Encourage ministry experiences that work with and serve the poor and marginalized
  • Support mission areas at home and abroad
  • Establish tuition and scholarship policies that open educational opportunities to the poor and disadvantaged

 IV.          Foster and Invigorate a Community of Faith

  • Provide a disciplined, safe atmosphere in which students are free to grow and take responsibility for their own learning and for the life of the community
  • Sustain compassionate, respectful relationships among all stakeholders
  • Be in union with the Church through commitment to service and formation of community
  • Encourage faculty and staff to give daily witness to their integral role in communal faith formation

  • Develop and educational culture that fosters the growth of the whole person, higher-order thinking, and life-long learning

 The Damien Memorial School has got its own laws and also opportunities. The school does not discriminate on any basis. There is no current job posting at the current time while the faculty has been filled up for the year in the 2014 to 2015 which is in the school year. The school is also active in different athletics and sports ctivities. The school has got sports activities like basketball for the boys and girls, baseball, football, golf, judo, soccer, volleyball for the boys and the girls too, wrestling, bowling and many more.
