The university was first named as School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems or just CTI. The CDM is situated in the city of Chicago, Illinois in the United States while it was established in the year of 1981. At the time of its founding, Helmut Epp was the founding chairman of the university and in the same year it was moved to 243 S. The college has been organized into two different schools which are the School of Computing which has been associating the programs involved in the computer as well as the information science which includes the software engineering, security, computer science, IT project management along with the school of Cinema and the Interactive Media also known as CIM. The CIM also comprises the game development, animation, digital cinema along with interactive media. The school also has been the associative institute of the DePaul University.

CTI also had the degree offering for the Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MIS). In the year of 1995 to 1996 CTI had established a Master’s degree in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) then later a program for the Bachelors of Science in the HCI had also been introduced. Along with the major offering of the bachelors degree, it also had the degree for the Master of Science in Distributed Systems along with a Bachelor of Arts in Computing which was in the DePaul’s School for New Learning.
