Alex Wagner is an American television journalist and political analyst. She was born in the year 1977 and celebrates her birthday on 4th of December every year. She works at the MSNBC and is best known as the anchor of the channel’s daytime program, Now with Alex Wagner.
She is a native of Washington, D.C., United States as she was born and spent most of her childhood there. She was born as the only child to father, Carl Wagner, who is a prominent political consultant for Demotractic Party and mother, Tin Swe Thant, who was a U.S immigrant originally from Rangoon, Myanmar. Her mother is a Burmese and her father has German and Irish ancestry so she has a mixed ethnicity of Burmese, German and Irish. However, since she was born to American parents, she is and American by nationality. She completed her high school education from Wilson High School. Then, she attended Brown University graduating from there in 1999.
She served at the Center for American Progress, based in Washington D.C., as the cultural correspondent. After that, in 2004, she became the Editor-in-chief of the Fader Magazine and covered music and cultural movements from all around the world, be it Brazil, South Africa or China. She held the post until 2007. Soon, she started working as the executive director of an advocacy and grant-making, non-profit organization called Not On Our Watch, founded by actors Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The role required her to travel to troubled hot spots like Zimbawe, Burma and Sudan with the aim of preventing and stopping mass atrocities and human rights violations. She worked with the organization from 2007 to 2009. Then, she started working at Politics Daily, a political news magazine under AOL News, as their White House Correspondent. Later, as AOL acquired Huffington Post, she moved to The Huffington Post. As a political analyst, she made appearances on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and Countdown with Keith Olberman, for MSNBC. She now serves as the host of MSNBC’s Now with Alex Wagner, since 14 November, 2011.
Talking about her personal life, she is engaged to Sam Kass. Her soon to be husband serves as a personal chef to President Barack Obama and is the ambassador of Let’s Move. He is also the senior policy adviser on nutrition at the White House. He had been her boyfriend for some time and was in serious dating.
