Adrian Pasdar is an American actor, film director and voice artist. He celebrates his birthday every year on April 30, and was born in the year 1965. His full name is Adrian Kayvan Pasdar but he is commonly known by his professional name Adrian Pasdar. He shot to fame for portraying the lead character, Jim Profit on the television series Profit. Other important roles he played were in Mysterious Ways, Cartilo’s Way, Heroes, Near Dark, among others. He is also known for playing Alec Rybak on The Lying Game. He voiced the character of Iron Man in Marvel Anime, Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man. He worked director’s hat for the movie Cement. Although he has Persian and German descent, he is an American by nationality.
He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States to father Homayoon Pasdar, who was a cardiac surgeon and mother Rosemarie, who was a nurse, English teacher and travel agent in France. He completed his high school from Marple Newton High School, Newton Square, Pennsylvania in 1983. Then, he earned his way into University of Florida with a football scholarship. He had a car accident which scarred his face and kept him in a wheelchair during his freshman year. Since he was no longer able to play football, he dropped out of university and started being interested in theater. He got a job at the People’s Light and Theater Company. One day while he was working back stage, he had an accident which cut off the end of his left thumb. The medical compensation for the accident paid for his attendance at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.
To start off his acting career, he auditioned for a role in the movie Top Gun, at the age of 15. He impressed the director Tony Scott so much that he wrote the part of Chipper just to have him in the movie. This opened many doors for him. He landed bigger roles in the movies Scholarbabies (1987), Near Dark (1987), Vital Signs (1990). His biggest break came with the British movie Just Like a Woman. He left Hollywood in 1992 and started working as a cashier also doing occasional minor roles in movies. His breakthrough in TV came as he played the lead role in the critically acclaimed Fox series Profit. He played another lead role on the PAX series Mysterious Ways as Anthropology professor Declan Dunn, from 2000 to 2002. Then, he played in the CBS drama Judging Army as David McClaren, from 2003 to 2005. Following year, he landed a high-profile guest role in the popular drama Desperate Housewives. He has given his voice to characters in animated series such as Hawkeye in The Super Hero Squad Show, Captain America in the Black Panther, Iron Man in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H, Marvel’s Avenger Assemble and Ultimate Spider Man. As a director, he also wrote and directed the short film Beyond Belief, his directorial debut. In 1999, his directed first feature film Cement.
He is married to Natalie Maines. His wife is a member of Dixie Chicks. The wedding took place in June 2000, a year later they had met. They met during the wedding of Maine’s band member Emily Robinson’s marriage to Charlie Robinson. Pasdar was the groomsman and Maine was the bridesmaid. The couple has two children, a son Jackson Slade Pasdar and a daughter, Beckett Finn Pasdar. They are living a blissful family life and divorce is out of the question. He was once rumored to be gay.
