The talented and laborious Troy Aikman is a former American football player. He played for twelve consecutive seasons as quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League. Currently he is commentator at Fox Sports. Born on November 21, 1966 in West Covina, California, he was named Troy Kenneth Aikman. The family moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma when he was 12. He completed high school from Henryetta High School. Upon graduation he was offered baseball scholarship by New York Mets but turned it down and attended the college at University of Oklahoma where he refined his football skills under coach Barry Switzer.

Aikman started well with the wins against Minnesota, Kankas State, Texas but was unfortunate to get injured during a match with Miami Hurricanes. So he was sidelined but the Sooners won the 1985 National Championship. Following that he was transferred to UCLA where he got his favorite position of quarterback. He performed well for UCLA Bruins and led them to 20-4 record win over two seasons, bagging numerous awards himself including Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, Davey O’Brien Award and others; also was in the race for many more. During 1989 Cotton Bowl Classic match against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Dallas, he was spotted by the Dallas Cowboys and became ‘the next quarterback for Cowboys’.

After that stumbling start for Cowboys, he gained the momentum later on. Following the selection of RB Emmitt and WR Michael Irvin in 1990, Cowboys nearly made it to the final playoffs. They came back strongly the next season to upset #4 seeded Chicago Bears as well as undefeated Washington and earn the #5 playoff seed. Aikman was selected to the Pro Bowls, his first of the six. The year 1992 was the most fruitful one for him. He not only set his career highs and broke the record of passes without interceptions, Dallas won the Super Bowls and Aikman was named the Most Valuable Player in their match against the Buffalo Bills. Cowboys won the Super Bowls the next season to. Continuing their good performance they bagged 5th Super Bowl in 1996 while Aikman threw for over 3300 yards that season. Although he played brilliantly for other seasons too, the frequent disputes and the personnel changes affected the game. The Cowboys couldn’t maintain the string long, so did Aikman.

Once he was rumored to be gay by coach Switzer in 1996. Whatsoever he never made any embarrassing headlines on or off the field. He had to be quite unlucky to miss the important matches due to injuries time to time. This might be the reason that Dallas didn’t extend the contract with Aikman after 2000 season. Subsequently he retired in 2001. He has a good record in his career. He is the ‘Boys’ all time passer (32942 yards) and with 61.5 percent pass completion he is the fourth best of all time. He made over 3000 yards pass in a season several times.

As the player’s career ended he switched to a commentator. He joined Fox Sports in 2001 and has continued since. He also hosts sports radio show on Sporting News Radio and appears on the Dunham & Miller morning shoe during football season. The Emmy nominated anchor was ranked No. 95 on The Sporting News’ list of 100 greatest Football Players. He also appeared on a Simpson’s episode and on Monday Night Football. He has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor and also College Hall of Fame. He completed his degree in sociology from UCLA and became a member of Board of Directors at the National Football Association in 2010. He is active in charitable work too. Troy Aikman Foundation helps children’s hospitals.

Aikman is forty six years of age. He stands six feet four inch tall, a good height. He has appeared in several commercials. He earns a good salary from the television ads. The hot guy has been spotted shirtless a couple of times especially by the neighbors. Troy has dated singer Lorrie Morgan. Sandra Bullock and Janine Turner were among his girlfriends. He married Rhonda Worthey, former Dallas Publicist on April 8, 2000. Rhonda was cast on the reality show The Real Housewives of Dallas. The pair has two kids Jordan Ashley and Alexa Marie. They couple divorced on April 12, 2011. His net worth is $ 25 million.
